Click in below to see my Instagram post about the event. It was a riot. I performed Tom Robinson’s “Glad to be Gay” because it’s the song I performed in the Castro when DOMA was struck down in 2013 - that’s when I got married to Mark Del Lima, who I’d been with for 7 years already at that point.
And with the kind of coding applied to the defunding of organizations around us, it’s important that we do what we can to save our queer spaces like The Chan Center for the Arts. And everything is only for now, I said so when we got married in 2013. People like to say that we’re safe but they just overturned Roe v. Wade — believe me, marriage equality is next.
And here’s a bonus thank you to everyone involved. This is the song I would play while walking around alone in The Chan Center in between strikes and rehearsals, and I didn’t realize that people were actually listening until they complimented me when the show was over. So, here it is performed in split-screen via Acapella by PicPlayPost.
